We love it when people get in touch and tell us about their last epic session or how well they are getting on with their new Heritage board, toasty warm new Noir zipperless suit or super grippy new boots. Drop us a line via the Contact Us section to let us know how you are getting on and we'll publish your feedback on this page ....

Having surfed for over twenty years on the cold North Coast of N. Ireland I thought I'd treat myself to a 3mm suit for the first time. Personally I generally feel the cold alot so decided to go for a good suit which should last well and be flexible and warm so I invested in your 3mm Zipperless Noir. To be totally honest I expected to wear it from June - September and the reason I write is to say thank you - it's now mid December and I'm still wearing it! I am amazed by the Noir, it has gone beyond all of my expectations. It's warm, super flexible and just continues to amaze me! On the back of the 3mm suits performance I have now bought the 6mm version, can't wait to try it out, but at this rate I don't know when I'll need it!

Hi Guys,

Bought the Circle One Noir (6/5/4) wetsuit on Friday arvo from my local Windsurf shop in Benfleet (Wet N Dry). I sent an enquiry to yourselves as I wasn't sure how it would be for windsurfing. Well I took it out windsurfing today (Saturday), was about 6 degrees air temp and 5.0 conditions, no joke the suit was like basking in the Caribbean, I was warmer than in the summer, all I needed was some reggae music :-) Best bit was the flexibility in the suit, no stiffness, no restrictions, total freedom.........and no zips :-) I've never been able to sail the winter before due to naff wetsuits, but after today thanks to your noir suit I've discovered something as good in the winter as my snowboarding and skiing. Fantastic product, best money I've spent this year!

Cheers,

Pete

"hey there...howzitt...just a quick word to say i love your stuff...i have a ten footer of yours...bootiful...got it from woodies here in ireland...great shop...they are flying your flag...great guys...well...keep up the good work...and may the waves rise up to meet you...cheers...simon ... ;)"

"Hi, I bought your 6'5 fish last summer and it's totally transformed my surfing! I've had the best autumn & winter ever. I love it....Cheers

Dear Jeff

Just want to thank you for making such great gear, had a brilliant off shore perfect 2-3 foot on Saturday on the North coast in my 5 year old 5mm noir wettie, so hot nearly had to take off my hood!

Thanks again

Paul

Hi ,

I rode the 10 footer for the first time today and jeez! It paddles well but the speed! I was covering so much ground and just flying! For trimming and gliding it's awesome. I'm proud of my Circle One board and will be promoting it to everyone I meet !... I was really impressed with everyone's friendliness.... I love the board Jeff, and look forward to trying the 9,1 with the bonzer fin set-up.

 All the Best,   Andy

"I've been wearing one of your wetsuits for the last 3 years' dinghy sailing.

It has been a really good wetsuit, kept me warm comfortable and the reinforced seat really helps stop the seat wearing out. I will definitely be looking for something similar soon". Rob

Hey Guys

Just wanted to say how impressed with the fish i am. as you know i havn't surfed anything shorter than 9'1 for 15 years and was concerned that i wouldn't get anywhere near catching stuff.. no worries at all.. even with the french crowds.. and crickey she dosn't half go!!! FANTASTIC..  Luke

"Purchased a 6'4" fish, best board I've ever ridden. Perfect for the inconsistent junk surf we get. So responsive and a nice glide. Thanks for a great board". Robbie

"Just wanted to let you know I took the board out for its first surf trip last weekend.  I'm really happy with it. Awesome!!! "

 Cheers, Mike.

Hi,

Thought I would just let you know I am well pleased with the 6.2, I have used it a bit for kite surfing and it works well. Well made great construction.

Thanks

Trevor

Circle One 5'8" Kite Board Independent Review by www.iksurfmag.com

Circle One have been a major player in the surf industry since 1969 and they have a long pedigree. It is very exciting therefore to see a true surf brand recognise kiting as a market worthy of their presence. For years now kiters have been trying to get recognition from the huge surf industry and bit-by-bit it seems we are getting there. Circle One have developed 4 boards for this season, a 6’6” Quad Fin Square Tail, a 6’3” Swallow Tail, a 6’ Diamond Tail and finally the 5’8” Round Tail that we have here. In that range there should be something for everyone, if you are new to the kite SURFboard market then a good rule of thumb is to choose a board 2 inches shorter than yourself. This will allow you to have enough size and buoyancy to be able to gybe it, but also mean the board will be big enough to be able to surf the wave, rather than just kite along it.

Jeff Townsley who founded the company way back when has shaped the 5’8” and he is one of the more experienced shapers out there. The board is quite narrow at 17 and three quarters but there is a good amount of volume under the feet just where you need it. It utilises a lightweight construction with vinyl reinforcing and although as with all surfboards it will need looking after it certainly withstands the knocks of day-to-day riding. The fin set up is the classic thruster lay out and high quality honeycomb fins come as standard. The great thing is that although the fins aren’t FCS the fin boxes will take FCS fins, so should you find yourself hitting the reef in a far-flung location it shouldn’t prove too difficult to get a replacement! The overall finish and look of the board is excellent, the graphics are simple and the board looks like a surfboard should, not like some 9 year old has been let loose with a set of crayons…

On the Water

We waited quite a while for some great conditions to really get to grips with this board, we rode it on flat water as we couldn’t wait for the waves, then when the waves came we rode it in 2 to 3 foot and also on a monster 6 foot day. On every occasion it excited, the board is fast in a straight line and despite its small size eager to get going. For the larger rider out there something like the 6’3” or 6’6” would suit but on a high wind day the 5’8” works really well even if you are a bigger guy. The board comes with various placements for the straps, two settings at the back and 4 at the front, we found with the back foot strap setting the board was easy to stall on the wave. But once we moved the strap further forward the board became much more fluid through the turns. A lighter rider might not find this is the case however. Gybing the 5’8” is simple enough, not as forgiving as some boards on the market, but easy enough none the less. Where it really excels though is in driving powerful bottom turns, the board seems to maintain its speed and keep going right back up the wave. Helped no doubt by the rounded pintail shape. It is a very fun board to ride, with the straps on, aerials are within your grasp and you won’t ever really find yourself wanting for more performance.

For

Classic shape and styling, excellent in the waves for smaller riders, easy to gybe with quality fittings.

Against

Larger riders will find they need something bigger, does have a tendency to stall on the back foot if you are heavy and use the rear foot strap setting. If you are over 6 foot have a look at the bigger boards in the range.

Overall

The 5’8 is a true surfers surfboard, classic styling and a classic shape. A perfect all rounder for riders at 6 foot and below but also great as a high wind board for larger more skilled riders. Quality construction and fittings make it a great board at a very reasonable price; in the UK the RRP is just £335!

I'm a regular short board surfer based in West Cornwall.

Two years ago last summer I bought my 13 year old  daughter a Circle One Mini Mal.(The flowery model).

I thought it looked like a stable board with plenty of volume which would go well on small waves. The bottom contours looked interesting and I thought once she had mastered getting to her feet and riding to the beach in true beginner style, the board might prove suitable for developing more progressive maneuvers.

The board has proved its self time and again. I have used it on waves of all sizes and shapes. This board responds brilliantly. It can be fast and loose on larger waves or ridden gently by a beginner (it outclasses many more expensive boards I see other surfers using). Each time I use it I come ashore with a smile on my face. Don't overlook this one it's great fun! - Alistair

Hi,

Just to thank you for your efficient service on the repair to my broken Zip pull on my wetsuit. Wish all companies were as good. Arrived back this morning very pleased with it.

7' 6" Heritage

Just to let you know that the board arrived on the friday of the June bank holiday weekend. The board is brilliant and it is excellent in the water. The crew here were impressed!

Thanks to all the team and the lads in Devon for your help in getting the board organised for us. Really appreciate it!

All the best,

Bartly

Hi Simon et al at Circle 1,

Just to say how pleased I am with the 6'4 Custom Quad Fin Shortboard I got off you last Christmas. Really nicely set up board, great fun on small waves too! (even for an old codger!!).

Best wishes, Alistair. (West Cornwall).

Test Bench: Surfboard reviews

The pros may use nippy shortboards, but longer boards are perfect for British summer waves. Steve England of Carve magazine picks five corkers

BEST FOR: LIGHTWEIGHT NOSERIDERS

CIRCLE ONE NOSERIDER

Jeff Townsley of Circle One is a veteran British board-shaper, and the Noserider is good for showcasing his skills. Once it’s on a wave, the design allows you to walk the board, sidestepping from the back end to the front and “hanging five” (or even 10) with your toes over the nose in true 1960s style. The difference between this board and classic designs of that era is that it’s much lighter, so easier to turn. That may be missing the point, because the old noseriders’ weight locked them onto the wave and gave a great sense of gliding once up and riding. But at least you’ll be able to carry the board back up the beach on your own.

Verdict: Inexpensive and indestructible, but heavier surfers may fight to keep it stable.

Ref 6' Circle One Kiteboard

Just writing to let you know that the board has arrived and is fully set up and that finally after a long wait due to the absence of wind, it made its maiden voyage last Saturday with 25-30knts and 2-3 feet waves. It performed absolutely great right from take off, it felt very stable and comfortable to ride. Its upwind pointing ability is excellent and it built up speed very nicely. I already started progressing with my riding from there and then as I caught my first waves jibing on each one two to three times when I could only do that once before and my toeside riding ability on both sides has improved seriously just from one session.

A friend who tried it, who also rides a well-known Kite brand, really liked it also and started having second thoughts about his own.  In general, am very pleased so far with the board and can’t wait for the wind to pick up again.

All the best,

Elias

Hi James

Just wanted to say another massive thanks to you and Pete for patching up my board last week. Waves were pretty good in Polzeath and the board goes like a dream – pretty much point and shoot! Plenty of nice glassy rides, just what you need..
